In August 2023, a few public-minded citizens of a certain age had a simple realization that Texas grandparents had no organization to advocate for public schools—the ones our grandchildren and other children attend.

So we decided to create one: Grandparents for Public Schools (GPS).

We are primarily grandparents with previous advocacy experience related to the state legislature, and we're building connections with other important pro-public school organizations and advocates.

Our approach is strictly nonpartisan. Providing good public education should not be a partisan issue. Our focus is funding and resources for public schools.

Based in Austin, we have supporters across the state, and we are working hard every day to make new allies and recruit new members across Texas.
